Men's Tennis Slips By Jayhawks

KANSAS CITY, Miss. -- The 75th-ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team picked up its first conference win with a 4-3 decision over Kansas at the Plaza Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
The Cowboys improved to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The loss dropped the Jayhawks to 6-9 and 3-2.
OSU overcame a slow start, losing two of three doubles matches, before bouncing back to claim wins at four of the six singles positions.
Sophomore Matt Prentice got the Pokes started at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 upset of 74th-ranked Rodrigo Echagaray. With the win, Prentice improved to 8-3 on the season.
At No. 5 singles, sophomore Fran Krepelka improved to 10-1 on the season with a straight-set decision over Bryan Maier, 7-5, 6-2. OSU's Chris Bates and Jiri Jezek also posted straight-set decisions at the No. 4 and 6 slots.
Bates and Krepelka also picked up an 8-2 decision at the No. 2 doubles position to move their record to 9-2 on the season.
The Pokes will return to action on Monday when they travel to Wichita, Kansas to take on the Wichita State Shockers at 2 p.m.
