Mason Named to Wooden Award Ballot

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State forward Desmond Mason is one of 22 players named Monday to the John R. Wooden Award.
Mason joins three other Big 12 players (Marcus Fizer of Iowa State, Chris Mihm of Texas and Eduardo Najera of Oklahoma) on the ballot, only the Big 12 and Big 10 had as many nominees.
Ten players will be named to the Wooden Award All-America Team, ballots are due back from the voters Monday, March 27, and an announcement of the team will be made on Fox Sports Net's 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts in all time zones Tuesday, March 28.
Mason is averaging 18.1 points this season and will lead the 17th-ranked Cowboys into this week's Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. OSU opens tournament play in Friday's quarterfinals. The Cowboys will tip off at approximately 2:20 p.m. against the winner of Thursday's first-round game between Kansas and Kansas State. The games will be televised on the ESPN Plus regional network, including KFOR (channel 4) in Oklahoma City and KJRH (channel 2) in Tulsa.
