Baker Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State junior guard Maurice Baker was named today as the Big 12 Conference rookie of the week.

Baker scored a career-high 25 points in the Cowboys' Saturday victory over No. 21 Arkansas. His scoring included a layup that gave OSU the lead for good and two free throws that ensured the team's eventual one-point victory.

Baker, who was named the conference player of the week Dec. 5, has averaged 22.5 points in his past four games, including his 18-point outing Wednesday against Wichita State, when he led the team in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals in a losing effort.

OSU returns to action Saturday when the 4-1 Cowboys face Northwestern (La.) State in Oklahoma City in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
