COWGIRLS HOST FINAL EXHIBITION
Oklahoma State's Cowgirl basketball team will host its final exhibition of the preseason on Monday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Abe Lemons Arena on the OCU campus. The Cowgirls will host KSC Szekszard, a national team from Hungary. OSU is coming off a 57-56 loss to the Australian Institute of Sport last Thursday, while KSC is 3-5 following a 67-55 win at Tulsa Sunday afternoon.
MORE ON KSC
The Hungarians are 3-5 during their tour of the midwest, including a three-game winning streak over the weekend. They lost to Drake, 81-63, to open the tour, and lost four more games before picking up a 90-52 win over Washburn. They lost close games to both Nebraska (76-74) and Kansas State (49-46).
LAST TIME OUT
Oklahoma State struggled offensively and fell to the Australian Institute of Sport, 57-56, last Thursday in Enid. Jessica Spinner, a native of Australia, led the Cowgirls with 15 points, while junior Kara Faulk chipped in 13. Faulk also led the Cowgirls with seven rebounds. OSU shot just 33.3 percent (18-of-54) from the field, and 6-of-18 (33.3 percent) from behind the arc. After being outrebounded by 12 in the first period, the Cowgirls came back and outboarded AIS, 21-15, in the second. OSU had just eight turnovers and was whistled for just 10 fouls, but poor shooting doomed the Cowgirls.
THE PRESEASON RANKINGS
Both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Polls were released last week. Six of Oklahoma State's opponents this season were receiving votes in the AP Poll, while an additional five were receiving votes in the Coaches' Poll. Teams ranked in the top 25 in both polls are: Iowa State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Southwest Missouri State. Others receiving votes are Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Arkansas and Alabama.
