Prentice Wins ITA Mid-American Crown

Oklahoma State's Matt Prentice won the singles title at the ITA Mid-American in Tulsa, Okla. on Sunday afternoon.
The junior from New Zealand was the lone Cowboy left after the round of 16. In his six matches, Prentice did not drop a set en route to the title.
With a win over Andrew Metzler of Kansas 6-4, 6-2. Prentice went on to defeat Maciej Dilaj of Colorado in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. In the semifinals, Prentice defeated Rodrigo Echagaray of Kansas in straight sets 7-6, 7-5. In the finals, Prentice defeated Indiana State's Stefan Hiran 6-3, 6-4.
"I am really excited for Matt," head coach James Wadley said. "He served really well all weekend and kept his composure in pressure situations. He has really come a long way in two years."
A pair of Cowboys lost in the round of 16, Eru Lyndon to Colorado's Dilaj in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 and Chris Bates to Nebraska's Jorge Abos-Sanchez 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action Lyndon and Prentice won their first two matches over Jorge Abos-Sanchez and Lance Mills of Nebraska 8-4 and Rishi Garbharran and Jan Vanco of Southwest Missouri State 8-5. Lyndon and Prentice fell to Kansas' Rodrigo Echagary and Elezaar Magallan 8-6 in the quarterfinals. Jiri Jezek and Justin Ewert lost their first match to Creighton's Oliver Floth and Magnus Muller 8-4.
Bates and Krepelka won their first two doubles matches, defeating Missouri-Kansas City's James Nelson and Angelo Vasilescu 8-5 and Tulsa's Sean Monk and Matt Zomer of Tulsa 8-4. Bates and Krepelka lost in the Quarterfinals to Tim Miller and Stephen Killian of Drake 8-6.
