OSU Men's Tennis In Main Draw Of ITA Mid-American Championships
TULSA, Okla. (OSU Athletics http://www.okstate.com) -- One player of Oklahoma State's men's tennis team qualified for today's main draw at the ITA Mid-American Championships in Tulsa, OKla.
In his first collegiate matches, Justin Ewert posted two wins Thursday to advance to the main draw. Ewert defeated Merritt Gaunt of Wichita State 6-2, 6-2 and Thomas Kwong of St. Louis 6-3, 6-4 to advance.
Because they competed in the first two legs of the Grand Slam, Jiri Jezek, Eru Lyndon, Matt Prentice, Fran Krepelka and Chris Bates didn't have to compete Thursday to qualify for the main draw.
Singles and doubles finalists will automatically qualify for the 2001 National Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash., Feb. 15-18.
