COWGIRLS OPEN CONFERENCE WITH AGGIES - Oklahoma State will travel to College Station, Texas, this weekend for a Saturday game with the Texas A&M Aggies. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The Cowgirls are 8-4 and coming off a 77-40 win over the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders. Texas A&M is 9-2 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play after a 62-59 win over the Baylor Bears on Wednesday.
COMING UP - Following the game this weekend, OSU will return home for a game vs. Texas (9-4, 1-0) on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. On the following Saturday, the Cowgirls will travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face the 13th-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders (11-1, 0-1) in a 2 p.m. contest.
INJURY REPORT - Junior Tari Cummings suffered a partial ACL tear and a lateral meniscus tear in her left knee against West Virginia. She had surgery on Thursday evening and will be out for a minimum of six weeks. Junior Kara Faulk suffered a hip flexor strain during practice Wednesday, and is questionable vs. Texas A&M. Freshman Leah Wahlgren is suffering from patellar tendinitis in her left knee, and will be evaluated early next week.

LAST TIME - Oklahoma State used a balanced attack from both the guards and post play as the Cowgirls defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 77-40, here Monday night in the final non-conference women?s basketball game for OSU this season. Senior Jennifer Crow made her average, scoring 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor, including five three-pointers. Freshman Chantoya Hawkins added 15, while Kara Faulk pulled down 11 rebounds. The Cowgirls took an early eight-point lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 23 in the first half. Crow scored 16 of her points in the first period. The Islanders made a minor comeback early in the second half, cutting the lead to 16 points three minutes into the period. But, Oklahoma State?s bench played a major role in the half, scoring 21 points, including nine by Reba Johnson in just six minutes of play. Oklahoma State outrebounded TAMUCC, 46-31, including 21 offensive boards. The Cowgirls also forced 31 turnovers. Islander Kristin Rogers, a Mannford, Okla., product, led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds. Amanda Bryant, a freshman from Norman, Okla., added eight.
COACH DICK HALTERMAN - Dick Halterman is entering his 17th season as the head coach for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and brings with him a 295-191 career mark at OSU. Halterman has guided the Cowgirls to eight postseason appearances in the last 11 years, including seven NCAA Tournament appearances (last in 1996) and one Women's NIT appearance (1998). Under Halterman, 13 Cowgirls have been named first-team all-conference, while 27 student-athletes have achieved first-team academic all-conference status. He is a two-time conference Coach of the Year, and was the District V Coach of the Year in 1991. Halterman has taken two conference All-Star teams abroad, including this past August, when he led the Big 12 All-Stars on a tour of Finland and Sweden. That team finished with a 5-1 record. HALTERMAN ON RADIO/TV - During the 1999-2000 season, fans can catch up with the Cowgirl head coach on both the radio and television. The Coach Halterman Radio Show will be broadcast every Monday evening from 5:30 - 6 p.m. on KGFY-105.5 FM in Stillwater. The Coach Halterman Television Show will be broadcast on Tuesday's at 7 p.m. on KWEM-TV 31 in Stillwater, which is Channel 3 on Peak Cablevision. Casey Kendrick, program manager at KWEM, will host both the radio and television shows.
COWGIRL BASKETBALL ON THE AIR - Once again during the 1999-2000 season, the Oklahoma State women's basketball games will be broadcast live on KGFY-105.5 FM in Stillwater, part of Stillwater Radio. Kevin Gum, in his 10th season with the Cowgirl broadcast, will handle play-by-play duties, while Casey Kendrick, in his fifth season on the air, will provide color analysis. Fans outside the Stillwater broadcast range will be able to listen to the broadcasts via the internet at www.okstate.com. Gum and Kendrick will be on the air 30 minutes prior to tipoff with pregame analysis, as well as interviews with Coach Halterman and various Cowgirl players.
HOME NON-CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK INTACT - Oklahoma State has, kept its non-conference winning streak alive for another season. With a 77-40 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday night, the Cowgirls extended its streak to 20 games, the longest in school history. The Cowgirls finished 46-3 in those types of games in the 1990s, and are 75-10 all-time. The only three losses in the 90s were ... CROW BACK FOR FINAL SEASON - Jennifer Crow is back for her final season in a Cowgirl uniform, and is looking to move up several OSU career statistical charts. She became the 14th player in school history to record 1,000 points in a career, and she currently ranks fifth on the all-time points scored list with 1,423. Jennifer needs 151 points to surpass Donna Ridling (4th with 1,573). She already holds the school record for three-pointers made (170) and attempted (450) in a career. Jennifer was named third-team All-Big 12 last season, and was honored as a second-team Academic All-American her junior year. She ranks eighth in career scoring average at 14.5 ppg, fifth in free-throw percentage at 81.3 percent, and fifth in three-point shooting at 37.8 percent. CROW AT THE LINE - Senior Jennifer Crow set an OSU school record vs. Lamar when she was successful on 12-of-12 trips to the free-throw line. She broke the previous record of 10-of-10, set by Crista Troester in 1983, and duplicated four times since, the most recent time by Cheri Edwards in 1998. One game later vs. Tulsa, Jennifer broke her own record by connecting on 13-of-13 free throws. Crow set another school record from the charity stripe by connecting on 30 consecutive free throws. The previous record was 28, set by Jamie Siess in 1987-88. Jennifer made her last three attempts vs. Illinois, then was a perfect 25-of-25 vs. Lamar and Tulsa. She hit her first two vs. Oral Roberts, but then missed her 31st attempt. She is currently shooting 88.0 percent (73-of-83) from the line. Jennifer also owns the top two single-game free-throw shooting games in the nation.

TRIO TAKING CHARGE - After 12 games this season, Oklahoma State has four players averaging at least eight points per game, and three are averaging more than six rebounds per contest. Jennifer Crow leads the team in scoring, averaging 21.5 points per game, including a career-high 28 vs. Long Beach State and vs. West Virginia. She is also averaging 6.7 rebounds per contest. Junior Tari Cummings is averaging 17.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, including careers highs in points (33) and rebounds (15) vs. Washington. Sophomore Kara Faulk is averaging 8.3 ppg and 7.8 boards per game, while freshman Chantoya Hawkins is averaging 10.7 points per contest.
FRESHMEN DUO GETTING PT - Freshmen Chantoya Hawkins and Shelby Hutchens have each started 10 games this season, the most starts by a true freshman since 1993-94, when Cheri Edwards started 28 in her first season as a Cowgirl. The last time two true freshmen started at least nine games was in 1992-93, when Stacy Coffey, Amy Scales and Yogi York started 32, 32, and 31, respectively.
BIG 12 INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS - Cowgirl Jennifer Crow and Tari Cummings rank second and fourth, respectively, in the Big 12 Conference in scoring. Cummings is third in rebounding at 9.4 boards per game, behind Keitha Dickerson of Texas Tech (10.5) and Baylor's Danielle Crockrom (9.6). Kara Faulk ranks 13th in overall rebounding at 7.8 per game. Crow also ranks sixth in assists per game (5.0), and third in three-pointers made per game (2.42). Chantoya Hawkins ranks eighth in the conference in steals, averaging 2.58 per contest, while Crow ranks 12th (2.33). Crow is fourth in free-throw percentage and ninth in 3-point percentage. Cummings is ranked 15th in field-goal percentage.

BIG 12 TEAM RANKINGS - Oklahoma State is in the top half of the league in seven statistical categories. The Cowgirls are second in the conference in free-throw shooting (75.5) behind Missouri (77.2). They are also second in the Big 12 in offensive rebounds (15.83), behind only Texas (17.31). OSU fourth in the league in 3-point field goals, averaging 5.08 per game, as well as rebounding defense (35.0). O-State is sixth in steals per game, averaging 11.17 per contest. ABOUT THE AGGIES - The Aggies are led by junior college transfer Jaynetta Saunders, who is averaging 15.9 points per game and has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week three times. Senior Prissy Sharpe is averaging 14.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest, while the other three starters are all averaging at least nine points per game. As a team, A&M is averaging 78.7 points per game, while allowing just 60.5 per contest. The Aggies' only two losses in non-conference action were to top-20 Tulane, 91-74, and at Rice, 60-57.
