AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas' Edwina Brown scored a game high 24 points and the Cowgirls shot just 26 percent from the floor as the Longhorns defeated Oklahoma State, 74-44, here Wednesday night before 5,147 fans in the Erwin Center.
Freshman Chantoya Hawkins scored a team-high 17 points, but also had 11 turnovers as UT pressured the point guard all night long. Texas scored 23 points off turnovers, including 16 fastbreak points on the Cowgirls.
Senior Jennifer Crow scored 11 points, but missed several shots that she felt were good looks.
"I had a lot of good looks, but the shots didn't fall," said Crow. "It wasn't really anything different they did defensively, they just didn't fall."
The Longhorns scored 44 points in the paint, mostly by the perimeter players. Meanwhile, OSU scored just 16 in the paint, including just five by the starting front three.
Oklahoma State (11-7 overall, 3-3 Big 12) will travel to Boulder, Colo., to face the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday, Jan. 29. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CST, and the game will be televised by Fox Sports Net.
