COMING UP -- Oklahoma State will host the Baylor Bears (5-9, 0-4) on Saturday at 7 p.m. Next Wednesday, the Cowgirls will travel to Austin, Texas, for a rematch with the Texas Longhorns (11-5, 3-1), whom OSU defeated just last week, 71-69, in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
INJURY REPORT -- Tari Cummings suffered a partial ACL tear and a lateral meniscus tear in her left knee against West Virginia. She had surgery on Jan. 7, and will be out 4-6 weeks. Kara Faulk is out for 2-4 weeks after a bone scan Tuesday revealed a stress fracture in her hip.
LAST TIME -- Oklahoma State turned the ball over a season-high 27 times, contributing to 36 Texas Tech points as the Lady Raiders defeated OSU, 76-51, Saturday afternoon in the United Spirit Arena. Texas Tech took the early 3-0 lead on a three-point shot by guard Melinda Schmucker-Pharies, but OSU led early on as a zone defense prevented Texas Tech from making its next 11 shots. OSU took an 11-7 lead eight minutes into the game. The Lady Raiders forced 11 turnovers for the remainder of the period and took a 33-21 lead into the lockerroom. The second half started much like the first ended, and TTU picked up steal after steal, driving the court for easy layups. By the 3:24 mark, TTU led, 70-40, its biggest lead of the game. The Cowgirls were called for 21 fouls, while the Lady Raiders were whistled for 12, including five in the final five minutes when the game had already been decided. Tech went to the free-throw line 30 times, compared to just nine for OSU. OSU shot 35 percent from the floor, and was outrebounded by just one board, 40-39. Chantoya Hawkins recorded the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 11 rebounds. "I thought our zone defense did a pretty good job," said OSU Coach Dick Halterman. "We limited them to just nine points in the first 10 minutes, and almost half of their points were scored off turnovers."
