GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Oklahoma State split two games here Sunday afternoon, finishing the UTA/Pepsi-Cola InterCollegiate softball tournament with a 3-4 record for the weekend. The Cowgirls defeated Kentucky, 4-1, Sunday morning before falling to Texas Tech, 11-3, in an afternoon battle.
Sarah Knife Chief picked up her second win of the year in the early game, allowing just one run while scattering nine hits. Five of OSU's eight hits went for extra bases, including four doubles and a triple by Katie Wise. Two of the doubles came in the third inning, when Oklahoma State scored three of its runs. Jaime Foutch led off with a double, and with two on and one out, Melissa Turley hit her double that scored Foutch, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Wise.
In the second game, the Cowgirls went through four pitchers but could not stop the Red Raider offense. Texas Tech had 13 hits, and OSU committed four errors in the game. Amanda Hayes and Foutch hit back-to-back RBI singles in the seventh inning for two of the Cowgirls' runs.
Oklahoma State (3-4) will host a pair of scrimmages this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 16-17. OSU will play Connors State on Tuesday in a tripleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday, the Cowgirls will entertain Central Oklahoma in three five-inning games beginning at 3:30 p.m.
