Women's Basketball Opens Regular Season Against SMU

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team opens the 1998-99 regular season Saturday night as the Cowgirls host the SMU Mustangs in the season opener for both teams. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

OSU is coming off some exhibition success as the Cowgirls won both of their preseason games, the latest a 64-60 victory over the Slovakia Republic. SMU went 1-1 in exhibition games last week.

Oklahoma State will attempt to avenge a loss at the hands of the Mustangs last season that quite possibly kept OSU out of the NCAA Tournament. In last year's game, OSU led by as many as 13 points before SMU went on a 23-5 run to end the game for the final lopsided score of 71-56. The Mustangs went on to postseason play, the Cowgirls did not.

OSU will return to action Tuesday, Nov. 17, as the Cowgirls travel to Tulsa, Okla., to face the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in the Mabee Center. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
