COWGIRLS HOST SOONERSOklahoma State (12-8 overall, 4-6 Big 12) will host bedlam-rival Oklahoma (10- 10, 4-6) in the 61st meeting between the two schools. OU won the first game this year, a 74-58 win in Norman. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Both teams are involved in a six-way tie for sixth place in the Big 12 Conference standings. The Cowgirls lead the all-time series with a 33-27 record vs. the Sooners. OSU is 16-9 all- time vs. OU in Stillwater.
LAST TIME
Oklahoma State's Jennifer Crow scored a game-high 22 points and senior Kourtney
Bower dished out a career-high nine assists as the Cowgirls defeated the Baylor
Bears, 58-56, and picked up a season sweep of BU. Megan Gregg added 12 points
and Nikki Harmon had 10 as OSU won for the first time ever in Waco. The Cowgirls
led by five at half and by as many as 10 in the second period, but Baylor came
back, with five lead changes in the final six minutes. OSU was up by one with 35
seconds remaining. Crow stole the ball and went for a layup, but BU's Toya Ellis
was called for an intentional foul. Crow missed the first shot, but made the
second. OSU got the ball, but missed a jumper, and Ellis missed a layup at the
buzzer.
COMING UP
Oklahoma State will attempt to avenge a loss earlier this season as the Cowgirls
host the Texas Longhorns on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena. On
Wednesday, Feb. 17, OSU will travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face south-division
leading Texas Tech, also at 7 p.m.
OSU STAFF SELECTED
TO COACH BIG 12 ALL-STARS
Oklahoma State's coaching staff has been chosen to coach the Big 12 Select team
next season. The team of 12 all-stars will travel to Denmark and Sweden for two
weeks during the month of August. Coach Dick Halterman and his staff will
consult with other coaches in the conference and determine which players will be
taken at a later date.
CROW REACHES MILESTONE
Junior Jennifer Crow scored the 1,000th-point of her career last Wednesday night
on a three pointer vs. Iowa State. With that score, she became the 14th player
in Cowgirl history to reach the 1,000-point mark in her career. Jennifer became
the all-time three-point leader in OSU history when she hit her 112th vs. Texas
Tech (not in a game, that would be a record). She leads the team in scoring,
averaging 17.1 points per game, and also leads the team in three-pointers made
with 35. She is second on the team in free throw percentage, and her 120 free-
throws made lead the Big 12 Conference. Jennifer has scored in double figures in
54 of her 78 career games, and has scored at least 20 points in 13 games.
Jennifer recorded the second double-double of her career with 19 points and 11
rebounds vs. Stephen F. Austin. Jennifer was named the MVP of the Jackson
Diamond Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic, and was named to the all-tournament team of
the Beach Classic.
HARMON WELL BALANCED
Cowgirl senior Nikki Harmon has become one of the most well-rounded player in
school history. Much like her predecessor Renee Roberts, Harmon is very well-
balanced in her game. She is averaging 9.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. She
is also averaging 4.4 assists per game from her small forward position,
including a career-high 10 vs. Vanderbilt. Nikki leads the team in free-throw
shooting, connecting on 48-of-57 shots from the line this year. She made 25
consecutive free throws before a miss vs. Texas A&M broke the string. The school
record is 28. Nikki was named to the all-tournament team of the Jackson Diamond
Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic, hosted by Oklahoma State.
JOHNSON GETS START
Sophomore Reba Johnson became the third Cowgirl this season to start at center
when she was on the floor for the opening tip vs. Baylor. Her stats were not
impressive (0-6 from field for one point), but she did have six rebounds, no
turnovers, and she frustrated the BU post players on defense. Baylor starting
center Monica Arnold had just four points.
GREGG'S SHOOTING TOUCH RETURNS
Cowgirl senior Megan Gregg returned to the starting lineup after coming off the
bench four games, and responded with a 12-point perfromance on 6-of-8 shooting.
She improved her season shooting average to 57.7 percent, and she is shooting
58.2 percent for her career. Megan had the best shooting percentage for a junior
in school history last year, and her 58.6 percent was the second-best all-time
at OSU.
FRESHMEN STEPPING UP
Although they aren't truly freshmen this season, the duo of Mandy Stuber and
Jessica Spinner, both redshirt freshmen, have been stepping up their game this
season. The two are combining to average over 18 minutes per game, 7.5 points
each contest and have connected on 15 three pointers. Stuber has spent time
playing point guard, shooting guard and post, while Spinner has been primarily a
shooting guard.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
Eight of the 13 players seeing significant playing time this season for Oklahoma
State are either freshmen or sophomores. When you added in Jennifer Crow, the
only junior on the team, those nine players make up 64 percent of OSU's scoring
this season. Looking down the road, OSU will have just one senior next season,
and just three juniors. Coleman Smith and Kara Faulk are the first true freshmen
to start since Jennifer Crow and Sara Jackson in 1996-97, and Smith's five
starts are the most since Renee Roberts had five in 1994-95. The last true
freshman that was a consistent starter was Cheri Edwards, who started 26 games
in 1993-94.
COWGIRL NOTE-ABLE
As a team, Oklahoma State is ranked in the top five in the country in free-throw
percentage, shooting 75.9 percent from the charity stripe. The top team in the
NCAA is Butler, shooting 78.5 percent ... The Oklahoma game will be the 100th
game in Nikki Harmon's career ... Junior Jennifer Crow is second in the Big 12
in free-throw shooting, connecting on 83.3 percent of her shots from the stripe
... Crow is also eighth in the league in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game
... Senior Kourtney Bower is second in the Big 12 Conference with a 1.89
assists-to-turnover ratio ... Harmon's 4.35 assists per game are the eighth-best
in the league ... Several of OSU's current players have moved up the Cowgirl
career charts this season. Jennifer Crow is fifth on the free-throws made list
with 349. Bower ranks 11th on the career three-pointers made list with 51, and
sophomore Devon Magness is already 11th on the career blocked-shots list with 39
... OSU has six players averaging at least four rebounds per game, and eight
Cowgirls are averaging at least four points per game ... Nine players are
shooting at least 70 percent from the line, with three shooting better than 80
percent ... Looking towards the Big 12 Tournament, Oklahoma State is 3-0 on
neutral courts this season.
COACH DICK HALTERMAN
Dick Halterman is in his 16th season as head coach of the Oklahoma State
Cowgirls, and brings with him a 286-180 (.614) record, the most wins by a
women's basketball coach in OSU history. Halterman came to Oklahoma State
following a successful five-year career at Moberly Junior College, where he led
his team to a 144-23 record in five seasons and the 1982 National Junior College
Championship. Prior to that, Halterman was the head coach at Wheeling High
School for four years, and led the team to a 105-11 record and the 1975 Missouri
State High School Basketball Championship. Halterman is a two-time Big Eight
Coach-of-the-Year selection, and has a 149-119 (.556) record vs. the rest of the
Big 12. During Halterman's tenure, Oklahoma State has posted seven 20-victory
seasons, the most recent being last season's 20-11 mark.

Stillwater. Kevin Gum, as he has done for the past eight seasons, provides play-
by-play, while Casey Kendrick, in his fourth season with the broadcast, provides
color analysis.
HALTERMAN ON RADIO/TV
Coach Dick Halterman's radio show can be heard on Y105.5 FM every Monday evening
at 5:30 p.m. Kevin Gum serves as host, and fans are free to call in and pose
questions for the Cowgirl head coach. The Dick Halterman Show, hosted by Casey
Kendrick, airs on Channel 31 in Stillwater on Mondays at 7 p.m. It can also be
found on Channel 20 on Peak Cablevision in Stillwater.
SERIES BETWEEN OSU AND OKLAHOMA
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Oklahoma by a 33-27 count. The
Cowgirls won the first nine meetings, and have won six of the last seven. OU won
