Women's Basketball Cowgirls Shut Down Golden Eagles

TULSA, Okla. - Oklahoma State freshman Kara Faulk scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down seven boards as the Cowgirls overcame an 11-point deficit to defeat the ORU Golden Eagles, 66-58, here Tuesday night at the Mabee Center.
Faulk, a Sapulpa, Okla., native, scored 10 points in the second half on 4-of- 5 shooting. Sophomore center Devon Magness, who started the second half on the bench, shot 4-of-4 from the field in the second half for 12 points of her own.
The first half wasn't pretty, as Oklahoma State shot just 23.1 percent from the floor. The only thing that kept the Cowgirls in the game was a 10-of-13 shooting performance from the free-throw line. ORU led, 31-23, at the intermission after shooting 44 percent in the first period.
Coach Dick Halterman had some few, choice words in the lockerroom, and OSU returned to the floor with 15 minutes left in halftime. The speech must have worked, as the Cowgirls shot 51.6 percent from the field in the second half while limiting the Golden Eagles to just 36.7 percent.
OSU still trailed until the 3:12 mark of the game when a free throw by Jennifer Crow put OSU ahead, 57-56. ORU had led since the 9:19 mark of the first period after a 3-1/2 minute stall with the score tied at six-all. OSU went on a 10-2 run over the final three minutes.
Oklahoma State will return to action on Friday, Nov. 27, as OSU hosts the Cowgirl Classic, which includes New Mexico, Northwestern State and UMKC. The tournament will begin at 6 p.m. Friday night with OSU playing Northwestern State at 8 p.m. The tourney will conclude on Saturday with two games at 1 and 3 p.m.
