KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Adrian Peterson scored 18 points despite missing 7:30 of the first half with an ankle injury and Oklahoma State held on at the end to beat top-seeded Texas 59-57 in the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament Saturday.
Peterson hit the front end of a one-and-one free throw to give the fifth-seeded Cowboys (22-8) a two-point lead with 9 seconds to go.
Texas (19-12), the regular-season Big 12 champion and winner over Oklahoma State in 10 of their last 11 meetings, ruined itself with costly turnovers in the final 1:30 by Ivan Wagner and William Clay.
With 20 seconds left, Desmond Mason missed the front end of the one-and-one free throw and Kris Clack rebounded for Texas. But Texas turned it over and then Peterson went to the line.
Glendon Alexander had 13 points for Oklahoma State, which has won six of its last seven games and will meet the winner of the Kansas-Kansas State semifinal in the title game on Sunday.
Both teams were ice-cold in the second half, with the Cowboys going just 8-for-31 and Texas 8-for-26.
After Oklahoma State seized its biggest lead at 54-43 with 8:34 left, the Longhorns spent the next 4:06 on a 10-run run. Gabe Muoneke hit two field goals and Clay drilled a 3-pointer before Muoneke's free throw made it 54-53.
Peterson got Oklahoma State's first points in more than 4 1/2 minutes when he dropped in a 5-footer. Chris Mihm and Peterson swapped buckets in the next minute, then Mihm got loose underneath for a dunk that made it 58-57 with 2:09 to go.
Peterson's free throw with 9 seconds left was the only point either team managed the rest of the way. The Cowboys hit their first 10 foul shots and wound up 11-for-13.
Mihm had 17 points for Texas and Muoneke had 16. Clack had 10.
