LAST TIME
Oklahoma State's Jennifer Crow inched closer to the 1,000-point mark in her career with a team-high 16, but OSU could not score for nearly 10 minutes in the second half as the Cowgirls fell to Colorado, 62-58, last Thursday. Crow, who was just 3-of-15 from the field, did connect on 9-of-9 from the free-throw line. Megan Gregg, who had eight points and seven rebounds in the first half, finished the game with just nine points and 10 boards. With 17:27 remaining in the first half and Oklahoma State with its largest lead of the game at 38-31, the Cowgirls went cold. Over the next 9-1/2 minutes, CU went on a 10-0 run and never trailed again.
COMING UP
Oklahoma State travels to Waco, Texas, this weekend for a matchup with the Baylor Lady Bears (11-9 overall, 3-5 Big 12). It will be the final regular- season game between these two schools. OSU defeated BU, 59-55, ealier this season. Next week, the Cowgirls will host bedlam-rival Oklahoma on Wednesday and Texas on Saturday. Both games are set for 7 p.m.
COWGIRL NOTE-ABLE
As a team, Oklahoma State is just 0.008 percentage points behind Butler for the NCAA lead in free-throw percentage, both shooting 77.5 percent from the charity stripe ... Jennifer Crow set the all-time OSU career school mark for three- pointers made with her first trey vs. Texas Tech, surpassing Althea Cox's 111 ... Senior Nikki Harmon is second in the Big 12 in free-throw percentage this season, shooting 85.2 percent ... Senior guard Kourtney Bower is third in the Big 12 Conference with a 1.77 assists-to-turnover ratio ... Harmon's 4.72 assists per game is the eighth-best in the league ... Megan Gregg 57.5 percent shooting from the floor leads the team ... Several of OSU's current players have moved up the Cowgirl career charts this season. Jennifer Crow is tied for fifth on the free-throws made list with 340. Bower ranks 11th on the career three- pointers made list with 49, and sophomore Devon Magness is already 11th on the career blocked-shots list with 39.
CROW NEARING MILESTONE
Junior Jennifer Crow is currently seven points shy of the 1,000 mark in her career. She already has 312 this season through 18 games and should break the milestone against Iowa State. Jennifer became the all-time three-point leader in OSU history when she hit her 112th vs. Texas Tech (not in a game, that would be a record). She leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game, and also leads the team in three-pointers made with 31. She is second on the team in free throw percentage, and her 111 FTs made lead the Big 12 Conference. Jennifer has scored in double figures in 53 of her 76 career games, and has scored at least 20 points in 12 games. Jennifer recorded the second double-double of her career with 19 points and 11 rebounds vs. Stephen F. Austin. Jennifer was named the MVP of the Jackson Diamond Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic, and was named to the all-tournament team of the Beach Classic.
HARMON WELL BALANCED
Cowgirl senior Nikki Harmon was expected to be a scoring threat this season, but she has improved her game in all aspects for her senior year. Harmon is averaging 9.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. She is also averaging 4.7 assists per game from her small forward position, including a career-high 10 vs. Vanderbilt. Nikki leads the team and is second in the Big 12 Conference in free- throw shooting, connecting on 46-of-54 shots from the line this year. She made 25 consecutive free throws before a miss vs. Texas A&M broke the string. The school record is 28. Nikki was named to the all-tournament team of the Jackson Diamond Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic, hosted by Oklahoma State.
GREGG CONTINUES SHOOTING TOUCH
Cowgirl senior Megan Gregg continues to shoot the ball well this season, as proven by her 57.5 percent shooting from the floor. She has connected on 69-of- 120 of her shots from the field. Megan set a school record for juniors last season with her 58.6 shooting percentage. It was also the second-highest percentage in OSU history. Her current 57.5 career FG percentage is the second- best ever at Oklahoma State. Megan was named to the all-tournament team of the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic.
FAULK CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
True freshman Kara Faulk continues to impress the coaching staff, as can be seen by her 17 minutes averaged per game as a true freshman. In fact, she has started the last three games for Oklahoma State. She is fifth on the team in scoring, averaging 5.7 points per game, and is fifth on the squad with 4.4 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in offensive boards with 44. Kara recorded her first-ever double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds vs. Northwestern State in the Jackson Diamond Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic. She also got 10 boards vs. Texas.
SMITH GETS START
True freshman Coleman Smith has started the last four games for Oklahoma State. Coleman scored 10 points and pulled down eight boards in 27 minutes vs. Texas, and has been impressive over the last five games. She got her first start vs. Texas Tech, following a 29-minute performance vs. Baylor, a game in which she scored 10 points and limited BU's trio of forwards to just five points, 10 below their combined average.
STUBER COMING INTO OWN
Redshirt freshman Mandy Stuber has shown what she's capable of doing, despite her limited playing time. In just nine minutes per game, she is averaging three points and two rebounds per game. She has 10 assists, five blocks and 10 steals in 15 games. The 6-2 guard has the ability to play any of the five positions, and is able to post up or shoot the three pointer.
MOOKIE GETS PT
Sophomore center Toya Releford, aka Mookie, has gotten some quality playing time, despite a jammed finger on her shooting hand. Toya scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting in 18 minutes on the court vs. Texas Tech. She also had two rebounds. After sitting out the first semester, Mookie has averaged 9.8 minutes per game in eight games.
AUSTRALIAN FOR B-BALL
Baylor's Lara Webb isn't the only Australian playing in the Big 12 Conference. OSU freshman Jessica Spinner has averaged 4.4 points per game over the last four contests, including seven-point performances vs. both Baylor and Oklahoma. She's hit 5-of-17 from behind the arc this year.
COACH DICK HALTERMAN
Dick Halterman is in his 16th season as head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and brings with him a 285-179 (.614) record, the most wins by a women's basketball coach in OSU history.
