OSU Cancels Basketball Bash

STILLWATER, Okla. - The OSU men's and women's basketball programs announced today that their annual Basketball Bash has been canceled due to scheduling difficulties.

"The Bash is a great event for our fans as well as our players, and we're sorry to have to cancel it," said Terry Don Phillips, director of athletics. "Unfortunately, because of night football games last week and this week, and the Homecoming events this weekend, there was no way to fit it into our schedules."

Practices for the Cowboys and Cowgirls are open to the public, Phillips said, so fans can get a glimpse of the 1998-99 teams in training before their seasons open.

The Cowgirls' exhibition schedule begins Nov. 6 with a contest against a Sports Tours team; the men's team faces the California East All-Stars on Nov. 10 in its first preseason contest.
