STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's 30-th ranked Cowboy tennis team defeated No. 19 Baylor Sunday at the DuBois Tennis Complex. The Bears were undefeated in Big 12 conference play.
"It was a tight match. It was really close," head coach James Wadley said. "The doubles were really good. In the No. 3 doubles, we were down match points, and we had to break to come back, but the guys fought back and we were able to win the tie breaker 10-8.
"The No. 2 doubles have been struggling, but they really performed well today and came back and won. The No. 1 doubles just did what they were supposed to do - go out and win. The bottom half of our lineup really came through today."
Top-ranked Pavel Kudrnac improved his record to 23-3 with a win in three sets over Johann Jooste. The tandem of Kudrnac and Martin Dvoracek also improved to 21-3 with a 8-5 win over Jooste and David Hodge.
"I was struggling the whole match. I couldn't hit the ball like I would like to. I was just trying to play it back and make him (Jooste) miss, but I was missing too much. So, it was harder than it was supposed to be," senior Kudrnac said.
Rob Howarth extended his singles winning streak to 5 matches with his win over Joey Michalsky. Chris Bates also improved to 10-3 on the year as he defeated Mark Williams.
The Cowboys will travel to Tulsa on Wednesday, April 8 for a 3 p.m. match against the Golden Hurricane.
