STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowboy tennis team improved their conference record to 4-1 as they defeated Texas Tech 5-2 on Saturday.
The Cowboys (11-3) won all but three matches in the victory. First-ranked Pavel Kudrnac improved his record to 21-3 with his win over Tylir Jiminez. The 1st-ranked tandem of Kudrnac and Martin Dvoracek also improved their record on the year to 19-3 with a 8-4 win over Carey Boranorski and Ryan Shupe.
The Cowboys also got wins from Brad Chiller, Martin Dvoracek, and Rob Howarth in singles. Daniel Russo and Howarth also won their doubles match. In singles, Chris Bates led Ryan Shupe 7-6 after one set but had to default the match due to a foot injury.
"We knew that Texas Tech could be a tough match. They changed their lineup from the last time we played them," Head Coach James Wadley said. "I thought we played solid at doubles. We didn't play as well at No. 2 as I thought, but we did win the doubles point. Then the guys came out and won three of five and really played well."
The Cowboys will return to action Sunday when they face No. 17 Baylor at the DuBois Tennis Complex. The match will be a 2 p.m.
