LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Ryan Robertson, fouled by Adrian Peterson, sank a free throw with no time left on the clock in overtime, lifting Kansas to a wild 67-66 victory Monday night over Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State's Glendon Alexander hit a long 3-pointer that tied it 66-66 with :02 remaining. Kansas inbounded the ball to midcourt, called time out, then threw it in to Robertson, who was fouled as he went up for an off-balance jumper at the buzzer.
Eric Chenowith scored 25 points and Kenny Gregory added 11 as Kansas (19-8, 11-4 Big 12) beat Oklahoma State (18-9, 9-6) for the seventh straight time in a game that was stopped once to chase an intruder off the court and once so a player could put his shorts on right.
Chenowith, a 7-foot sophomore who had 24 points at Oklahoma two days earlier, made it 64-60 with :32 left in overtime as he and Peterson fought for a rebound beneath the Kansas basket.
With 16 seconds left, Peterson hit a long 3-pointer for the Cowboys, then Nick Bradford was immediately fouled and dropped in two free throws to give Kansas a 66-63 lead.
Peterson led the Cowboys with 23 points. Joe Adkins, who hit three straight 3-pointers in the final 3:13 to keep Oklahoma State in the game, got a quick bucket in overtime but hurt his left leg on the play and had to be helped from the court. The 6-foot-2 junior, who had had 18 points, returned a moment later but was limping.
Adkins tied it 56-all with a 3-pointer late in regulation and a moment later Desmond Mason missed a 14-footer at the buzzer as regulation ended.
Oklahoma State guard Doug Gottlieb began play with his shorts on backwards. As the sellout crowd began to notice and give him grief, Oklahoma State called time out. The crowd roared as Gottlieb's teammates formed a tight circle around him while he removed the shorts and put them back on right.
Ironically, that seemed to trigger Oklahoma State's biggest surge. The Cowboys went on an 11-1 run that boosted them into a 6-point lead. T.J. Pugh's off-balance shot at the buzzer cut Oklahoma State's advantage to 31-29 at the half.
Early in the second half, a young man ran onto the court carrying a sign. Play was stopped while security officers ran him down.
