STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State has named Kyle Keller as its new assistant men's basketball coach, head coach Eddie Sutton announced today.
"As an OSU graduate, Kyle has a tremendous dedication and loyalty to this school," said Sutton. "He has proven himself with successful performances in each job he's had, whether it's as an assistant or a head coach. He is a super young man and a bright coach who has a tremendous ability to communicate with student-athletes. We are pleased that he will be joining us. He will be a great addition to our staff."
Keller returns to Stillwater following a two-year term as head coach at Tyler Junior College. He previously had served as assistant coach at Texas-San Antonio (1996-97), as graduate assistant at Tyler JC (1994-96) and as assistant coach at Louisiana Tech (1990-94).
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to work at Oklahoma State," said Keller. "It's the thrill of a lifetime to work with Coach Sutton, someone who's a Hall of Fame coach, who's taken teams to the Final Four, who has a resume like he does. It's a wonderful chance for me to both learn and contribute on his staff.
"It's really a dream to be able to coach at my alma mater. As a graduate of OSU, I feel like I have a fierce pride for the school, so when we compete, I not only want to perform well in my job but also to make my school and my fellow alumni feel proud."
Keller earned a bachelor's degree in business management from OSU in 1990, and he completed his master's degree in human relations and supervision from Louisiana Tech in 1991.
The hiring of Keller completes the Cowboys' coaching staff. Keller and former Nebraska associate head coach Jimmy Williams were appointed to fill positions vacated when OSU assistants Paul Graham and Randall Dickey were named head coach and assistant coach, respectively, at Washington State University.
