Cowgirls Set to Open Conference Play

Oklahoma State (8-2) returns to action this Saturday as the Cowgirls travel to Manhattan, Kan., to face Kansas State Wildcats. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. OSU is coming off two impressive wins over Stephen F. Austin and Denver in the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic. KSU is 7-3 this season and coming off an impressive 66-64 win at No. 24 Santa Clara Wednesday night.
LAST TIME
Megan Gregg led the Cowgirls to two wins over Stephen F. Austin and Denver
this week at the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic in Norman, Okla. Gregg, a
senior from Beaver, Okla., was named to the all-tournament team. In the
82-68 win over SFA, Devon Magness led all scorers with 22 points and joined
Jennifer Crow as they both recorded the second double-double of their
respective careers. Magness added 11 rebounds to her stats, while Crow
scored 19 points and pulled down 11 boards as well. Against Denver, Gregg
scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting. She also picked up seven
rebounds in the 76-48 win. For the tournament, Megan was 11-of-15 from the
floor and had 28 points in just 39 minutes of play.

COMING UP
The Cowgirls return home for their first conference game of the season in
Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 6, as OSU hosts the Texas A&M Lady
Aggies in a 7 p.m. tipoff. On Saturday, Jan. 9, Oklahoma State will host
the Baylor Bears in a regionally televised game on Fox Sports Southwest.

COWGIRL NOTE-ABLE
Senior guard Kourtney Bower currently has 42 assists and just 12 turnovers,
leading the Big 12 Conference with a 3.50 assists-to-turnover ratio ...
Oklahoma State leads the league in free-throw percentage, making 76.6
percent of its shots from the line ... Both Nikki Harmon and Jennifer Crow
rank one-two in free-throw percentage in the Big 12 ... Harmon's 5.2
assists per game is the fifth-best in the league ... Megan Gregg is just
two FGs shy of qualifying for the Big 12 and NCAA shooting-percentage
lists. Her 63.2 percent from the floor would rank third in the league ...
Several of OSU's current players will move up the Cowgirl career charts
this season. Jennifer Crow, in her third year in an OSU uniform, is
currently third on the three-pointers made list with 104. She needs just
eight more to own the OSU career record. She is also seventh on the
free-throws made list with 291. Bower ranks 12th on the career
three-pointers made list with 43, and sophomore Devon Magness is already
11th on the career blocked-shots list with 37 ... The Cowgirls will play
nine teams this season that are currently receiving votes in the USA
Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll.
CROW NEARING MILESTONE
Junior Jennifer Crow is currently 153 points shy of the 1,000 mark in her
career. She already has 166 this season in 10 games, and on her current
pace, would break the barrier sometime in early February. She leads the
team in scoring, averaging 16.6 points per game, and also leads the team in
three-pointers made with 14. She is second on the team and in the Big 12
Conference in free throw percentage, and her 62 FTs made lead the league.
Jennifer has scored in double figures in 44 of her 67 career games, and has
scored at least 20 points in eight games. Jennifer recorded the second
double-double of her career this week with 19 points and 11 rebounds vs.
Stephen F. Austin. This season, Jennifer was named the MVP of the Jackson
Diamond Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic, and was named to the all-tournament team
of the Beach Classic.
HARMON WELL BALANCED
Cowgirl senior Nikki Harmon was expected to be a scoring threat this
season, but she has improved her game in all aspects for her senior year.
Harmon is averaging 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. She is also
averaging 5.2 assists per game from her small forward position, including a
career-high 10 vs. Vanderbilt. Nikki leads the team and the Big 12
Conference in free-throw shooting, connecting on 33-of-35 shots from the
line this year. She has made 21 consecutive free throws. Nikki was named to
the all-tournament team of the Jackson Diamond Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic,
hosted by Oklahoma State.
GREGG CONTINUES SHOOTING TOUCH
Cowgirl senior Megan Gregg continues to shoot the ball well this season, as
proven by her 63.2 percent average from the floor. She has connected on
48-of-76 of her shots from the field, which currently ranks as the
third-best in the Big 12 Conference. Megan set a school record for juniors
last season with her 58.6 shooting percentage. It was also the
second-highest percentage in OSU history. Her current 60.2 career FG
percentage is the best-ever at Oklahoma State. Megan was named to the
all-tournament team of the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic.
FAULK SHOWS WHAT FRESHMEN CAN DO
True freshman Kara Faulk continues to impress the coaching staff, as can be
seen by her 18 minutes averaged per game as a true freshman. She is fifth
on the team in scoring, averaging 6.5 points per game, and is fourth on the
squad with 4.4 rebounds per game. Kara recorded her first-ever
double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds vs. Northwestern State in the
Jackson Diamond Jewelers' Cowgirl Classic.
STUBER COMING INTO OWN
Redshirt freshman Mandy Stuber has shown what she's capable of doing,
despite her limited playing time. In just 10.2 minutes per game, she is
averaging 4.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. She has five assists, five
blocks and eight steals in eight games played. The 6-2 guard has the
ability to play any of the five positions, and is able to post up or shoot
the three pointer.
MAGNESS AVOIDS SOPH SLUMP
Sophomore Devon Magness it appears has avoided the sophomore slump. Despite
a nagging back injury, the 6-7 center is averaging 8.6 points, 5-6 rebounds
andis shooting 53.2 percent from the floor. Devon recorded the second
double-double of her career this week with 22 points and 11 rebounds, both
career highs, vs. Stephen F. Austin.

COACH DICK HALTERMANDick Halterman is in his 16th season as head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and brings with him a 282-174 (.618) record, the most wins by a women's basketball coach in OSU history. Halterman came to Oklahoma State following a successful five-year career at Moberly Junior College, where he led his team to a 144-23 record in five seasons and the 1982 National Junior College Championship. Prior to that, Halterman was the head coach at Wheeling High School for four years, and led the team to a 105-11 record and the 1975 Missouri State High School Basketball Championship. Halterman is a two-time Big Eight Coach-of-the-Year selection, and has a 145-113 (.562) record vs. the rest of the Big 12. During Halterman's tenure, Oklahoma State has posted seven 20-victory seasons, the most recent being last season's 20-11 mark.

SERIES BETWEEN OSU AND K-STATE
Oklahoma State leads the overall series with Kansas State, 21-20. However,
KSU leads the series in Manhattan, 10-5. OSU won last year's contest, but
KSU has won the last two games in Manhattan. The Cowgirls have won 13 of
