Cowgirls Fall to Sooners, 74-58

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma freshman LaNeisha Caufield scored a game-high 23 points and the Sooners went on a roll the second half as OU defeated Oklahoma State, 74-58, here Wednesday night in the Lloyd Noble Center before 3,145 fans.
Oklahoma State went on an early 9-1 run to open the game and went up by nine at 12-3 just four minutes into the game. But, the Sooners rebounded and took a four-point lead at 35-31 into the lockerroom.
Caufield stole the inbounds pass to start the second half and scored a layup. Everything went downhill from there for the Cowgirls, who shot just 25 percent in the second half on 7-of-28 attempts. Oklahoma, meanwhile, was on fire, connecting on 13-of-24 shots, or 54.2 percent.
Junior Jennifer Crow led the Cowgirls with 10 points, while Devon Magness and freshman Coleman Smith each added nine. Megan Gregg led all players with eight rebounds.
Oklahoma State (10-4 overall, 2-2 Big 12) will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 19, as the Cowgirls host the seventh-ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders (15-1, 4-0) at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
