Cowgirls Fall to No. 15 Iowa State

AMES, Iowa (AP) - Stacy Frese had 18 points and Angie Welle had 16 to lead No. 15 Iowa State to a 76-42 victory over Oklahoma State on Wednesday night.
The Cyclones (16-3, 8-1 Big 12) regained a share of first place in the Big 12 Conference standings, tied with Texas Tech which did not play Wednesday.
Oklahoma State (11-8, 3-6) led only once, at 3-0 following a 3-pointer by Kourtney Bower 90 seconds into the game. Iowa State ran off 12 consecutive points to take control. Frese and Welle scored the Cyclones' first 20 points of the game.
Iowa State led 33-20 at halftime, then took command of the game with an 18-2 run, started by a 3-pointer by Frese and a three-point play by Welle, in the first eight minutes of the second half.
Megan Taylor had 11 points and Monica Huelman nine for Iowa State.
Jennifer Crow and Mandy Stuber led the Cowgirls with seven each.
Iowa State shot just 40 percent from the field, winning with defense and rebounding. The Cyclones held Oklahoma State to 22 percent shooting and outrebounded the Cowgirls by 59-37.
Huelman and Taylor both had 12 rebounds, while Welle had 11.
