Cowgirls Fall to Long Beach, 62-53

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl basketball team led by as many as six points late in the second half, but faltered late and fell to Long Beach State, 62-53, here late Monday night in the championship game of the Beach Classic.
The Cowgirls trailed, 32-23, at halftime, but went on a 13-0 run early in the second half and led by six at 42-36 with 8:55 remaining in the game on a jumper by Jennifer Crow. LBSU's Reta Sula hit a three pointer a minute later to pull within three, and the 49ers scored seven consecutive points to go ahead 46-42 with 5:25 left in the game.
OSU tied the game at 46 on layups by Megan Gregg and Devon Magness, but Kesha Wade scored five straight points for Long Beach that put the 49ers up for good.
Crow scored a game-high 15 points, while guard Kourtney Bower led the team in rebounding for the second-consecutive game with eight. She also had four assists and just one turnover. Long Beach State's 6-8 center Rhonda Smith led all LBSU scorers with 14 points. OSU got outrebounded, 44-34.
For her efforts, Crow was named to the all-tournament team of the tournament. She scored a game-high 22 points Sunday night vs. Detroit in the first round.
Oklahoma State (6-2) will return to action on Monday, Dec. 28, as the Cowgirls face Stephen F. Austin in the first round of the Bertha Teague Memorial Classic in Norman, Okla.
