Cowgirls Defeat Slovkia in Final Exhibition Game

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl basketball team got a fair test Wednesday night and picked up its second exhibition win of the season as OSU defeated the Myjava Slovak team, 64-60 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
"The thing that was of concern to us before the game really came into play tonight," said OSU head coach Dick Halterman. "They came out and put some pressure on us and we really don't have any individuals that you can put the ball in their hands and say, 'beat the pressure'. We have to get better at breaking the press as a team. We have to pass through the press and not get frustrated."
Junior Jennifer Crow scored a would-be career-high 26 points, including 3-of-4 from three-point range and 11-of-14 from the free-throw line. Senior Kourtney Bower scored 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, including perfection on three shots from behind the arc.
"Jennifer played like we expect her to play every night," said Halterman.
Senior Megan Gregg led all rebounders with eight boards while also leading the game in assists with four. Slovakia's Vladimira Daniskova scored 16 points and had seven rebounds before fouling out with just 13 seconds left in the game.
"This team was definitely more like a college team that we're going to play," said Bower. "I know that they've played with a lot of top-25 teams since they've been over here. The other team (Iceland) wasn't really in-your-face on defense. They didn't put a lot of pressure on you offensively or defensively, so we kind of got lulled to sleep. I think we met the challenge tonight and we stepped it up."
"Some of our younger players didn't get the minutes they probably should have, but every time we put more than two subs in, they cut on the lead and we wanted this game going into SMU," Halterman said.
Oklahoma State will open the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 14, as the Cowgirls host the SMU Mustangs in a 7 p.m. tipoff in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
