Cowgirl Golf Signs One to Letter of Intent

STILLWATER, Okla. - Christi Cano, a senior at Thomas Edison High School in San Antonio, Texas, has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Oklahoma State, it was announced today. The 1998 Texas class 5A state champion is the first to sign during the early signing period with OSU.
Cano's other 1998 accolades included the AJGA Tom Kite Championship, the Pan American Junior Championship, and a top three finish at the Big I Youth Insurance Classic, held at Oak Tree in Edmond, Okla.
"Christi's going to come in and be a contender," said OSU assistant coach Amy Weeks. "Her skills and demeanor on the course are outstanding. She's always 100 percent business on the course. She's a very focused golfer."
Excelling in the classroom as well, Cano was a member of the 1997 Compaq Scholastic Junior All-American team.
"Christi has been very successful at the junior level," said Weeks. "As far as the collegiate level goes, she will make good grades and be a fantastic asset to the team."
Oklahoma State is ranked seventh in the latest edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings. The Cowgirls are also the seventh-best team in the nation according to the Jeff Sagarin computerized rankings. OSU is ranked fifth in the GolfWeek/Titleist collegiate rankings.
