Cowgirl Golf Finishes 10th at West Regional

HOUSTON, Texas -- Oklahoma State's Cowgirl golf team, ranked eighth in the latest edition of the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, finished 10th at the NCAA West Regional Golf Championships here Saturday afternoon, qualifying the Cowgirls for the NCAA Championships, May 19-22, at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
USC won the team title with a 15-over-par 879, 11 strokes ahead of second-place Arizona. The Ladies of Troy shot a final-round 286, the lowest of the tournament. Arizona State finished third with an 893, while TCU (904) and Stanford (909) rounded out the top five.
Cowgirl Maria Boden finished seventh individually, shooting an even-par 72 on the final day and finishing with a three-round total of 220. Jenna Daniels of Arizona won the individual title, shooting a five-under 211 for the tournament.
OSU freshman Emma Zackrisson tied for 29th with a 229, while senior Lotta Stromlid finished with a 237, tying for 57th. JoJo Robertson (tied for 59th with a 238) and Natasha Rowe (101st with a 255) rounded out the Cowgirl golfers.
The top 11 teams from the West Regional, as well as the top eight from the East Regional held in Columbia, S.C., advance to the NCAA Championships to be held May 19-22 at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
This will be Oklahoma State's ninth appearance as a team at the NCAA Championships, and the first since 1994, when the Cowgirls finished 10th nationally. OSU's top finish at the national championships is a third-place finish, first in 1982 and again in 1989. Both of those events took place at Palo Alto, Calif.
