Cowboys Upset Oklahoma in Bedlam Win

NORMAN, Okla. - Led by senior Rob Howarth, Oklahoma State's Cowboy tennis team defeated intrastate rival Oklahoma 6-3 today in Norman. The win gave Oklahoma State it's first Big 12 conference win of the season.
Howarth improved his overall record to 10-6 at No. 1 singles with a win over Dusty Beard. He has won five of his last five singles matches, two over ranked opponents. Howarth also recorded a doubles win as he teamed with Matthew Prentice to defeat Charlie Roberson and Rick Warren at No. 1 doubles.
Oklahoma State (9-10, 1-6 Big 12) also got singles wins from Jeremy Ewert at No. 3 singles. Junior Jacques du Toit improved his record to 7-7 with a win over Jeremy Dunham. Gordon Ryan also recorded a win as Jave Rush retired with a score of 5-7, 6-5.
In doubles, the tandem of Gordon Ryan and Marc Paulik added a doubles win as they defeated Clinton Alford and Rush 8-5.
Oklahoma State will close out the season Saturday as they face Kansas at the DuBois Tennis Center. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
