LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Adrian Peterson scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half and Joe Adkins hit a big 3-pointer as Oklahoma State ended a three-game losing streak, beating Nebraska 60-48 on Wednesday night.
The Cowboys (17-8, 8-5 Big 12) outlasted the Cornhuskers (17-9, 9-4) in a physical game.
Nebraska, which trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half, rallied to cut it to 51-46 with 2:59 to play when Chad Johnson made two free throws.
After a free throw by Alex Webber, Johnson hit an 8-foot jumper from the left side of the lane to make it 52-48 with 2:35 left, bringing the near-capacity crowd of 13,146 to its feet.
The Cowboys spread their offense on the next possession and ran the shot clock down. It appeared Nebraska's defense would hold when Adkins connected from 3-point range with 2:00 on the clock.
The Huskers killed themselves at the line, making only 1-of-6 before Johnson's two late free throws. Nebraska also hit just one shot from beyond 15 feet - a second-half 3-pointer by Cary Cochran.
The Cowboys built a 47-37 lead with 9:49 to play after a 12-3 run that extended a 38-34 lead. Peterson hit two 3-pointers in the spurt and scored on a nice backdoor ally-oop from Glendon Alexander.
Venson Hamilton scored inside to pull the Huskers within 47-39 but Peterson answered with his fourth 3-pointer of the second half.
After Troy Piatkowski's fast-break jumper got Nebraska within 50-41, a key sequence left the Huskers rattled and, ultimately, broken.
Piatkowski and Belcher missed 3-pointers but Hamilton got a rebound and went up strong. Oklahoma State's Alex Webber collided with Hamilton but referee David Hall ruled it was a block when the ball came loose.
The Cowboys came away with it but couldn't connect at their end. The Huskers got it inside to Hamilton again, but his undefended dunk attempt bounced high off the rim and into Oklahoma State hands.
Hamilton scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds.
Webber added 12 points and Adkins scored 11.
