STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State senior-to-be Doug Gottlieb will participate in a 10-day tour of Greece with the One World Select team, it was announced last week.
Gottlieb is one of 10 players on the team, which is coached by Texas assistant coach Rob Lanier. Three fellow Big 12 players -- Maurice Evans and Gabe Muoneke of Texas and J.R. Raymond of Oklahoma -- will join Gottlieb, as well as two players from the 1999 NCAA Champion Connecticut Huskies, Albert Mouring and Edmund Sanders.
The team is slated to depart from New York City on the evening of Friday, June 11. After two days of practice in Chalkidiki, Greece, the squad will play two warmup games against professional teams from Greece. One World Select will conclude its tour by competing in a four-day tournament against Under-20 national teams from Croatia, Greece, Israel, Turkey and Yugoslavia on June 17-20.
Gottlieb set OSU and Big 12 records and led the nation last season with 299 assists, a total that ranks 13th in NCAA Division I history. He will be one of seven seniors on OSU's 1999-2000 team as the Cowboys look to make a third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
