LAS VEGAS (AP) - The biggest test for the undefeated and 12th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys may be against UNLV on Saturday at the Las Vegas Showdown.
The Runnin' Rebels (6-1) rebounded from a loss to North Carolina in the championship game of the Food Lion MVP Classic on Dec. 4 with an 87-66 win over Austin Peay on Wednesday.
Kaspars Kambala scored 23 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Mark Dickel added 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Sylvester Dotson came off the bench for a career-high 11 points.
"I was just happy to be out there helping my team win games," Dotson said. "I mean, I wouldn't say I was tentative before, but I was feeling it more. I hit my first couple of shots, after that, everything was good."
The Rebels, who are averaging 87.9 points, are winning by an average of 19.3.
Oklahoma State (8-0) is one of just five undefeated teams in this week's Top 25 poll. However, coach Eddie Sutton was not happy with the Cowboys in their last win and is certain UNLV will bring its best game.
"Saturday will be a pretty good barometer of where we are because UNLV is really a good basketball team," Sutton said.
Desmond Mason paced Oklahoma State with 23 points, including 13 in the second half, in a 79-53 victory over Alcorn State on Wednesday. Mason went 7-of-9 from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
The Cowboys, while forcing 28 turnovers, were whistled for 20.
"That was the first time anybody has really pressed us," Sutton said.
"They had some quickness out there. That may have disrupted us some offensively."
