Cowgirls Record Upsets At Rolex Regional

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Oklahoma State Cowgirl tennis team went a perfect four-for-four in its matches at the Rolex Regional in Salt Lake City. Two of the Cowgirls' victories came over higher seeded players.
Fourteenth-seeded Dominika Olszewska defeated Monika Sekulov of Kansas to move into the semifinals. After losing the first set 6-1, Sekulov was forced to retire in the second set due to injury. Olszewska will face Ana Friganovic of New Mexico, the tournament's top seed.
Maria Galoustova also advanced into the semifinals with a straight set win over the third seed, Sandra Noetzel of Nebraska. Galoustova's opponent in the next round will also be from New Mexico. She will square off against seventh seed, Natalie Alekhova.
Galoustova was victorious in doubles action as well. Teamed with Ashleigh Dolman, the pair defeated conference rival, Tiffany Chang and Cheryl Mallaiah of Kansas. The fifth-seeded Cowgirls will face the event's second seed in the next round, Elin Chiew and Gee Gee Gervin of BYU.
Eleventh-seeded Marketa Chmelova and Linda Faltynkova advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles play, upsetting Alekhova and Friganovic 9-7. The New Mexico duo was seeded sixth in the tournament.
