Cowboy Netters Advance At ITA All-American Championships

AUSTIN, Texas - Oklahoma State's Chris Bates and Fran Krepelka moved to the field of 64 at the ITA All-American in Austin, Texas on Sunday.
Both players had to win four prequalifying matches to move on to the qualifier round of the tournament. Both players must win two more matches to advance to the main draw.
Bates defeated Arkansas-Little-Rock's Mariano Pettigrosso in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in the third round. In the fourth round, he downed Michigan's Ben Cox 7-5, 6-3.
Krepelka, a freshman from Slovakia, handled Boise State's Rio Kuharski 6-3, 6-2 in the third round. After dropping the first set to Texas A&M's Jarin Skube, he bounced back to take the next two sets, beating him 3-6, 7-6 (7-0), 7-5
In doubles action, Bates and Matt Prentice are alive in the field of 32. They also need a pair of victories to advance to the main draw. Their next opponent is Clemson's duo of Josh Goffi and Darren Knight.
