Chris Deal was hired as Oklahoma State's director of football creative services in 2011. His role includes overseeing all digital aspects of the Cowboy Football creative team and assisting with recruiting.
A two-time Heartland Emmy Award nominee and 2017 award winner for technical achievement, Deal worked closely with Mandt Bros Production for a series of "Oklahoma State Virtual Recruiting" videos. As an assistant producer, Deal helped with overall concept, script writing, NCAA compliance and overall execution.
He came to Stillwater from the University of New Mexico, where he worked from 2006-11 in the Lobos' athletics communications office. He served as the associate media relation director and was the primary contact for football and women's basketball. Deal spent his last two years working directly with head coach Mike Locksley and Lobo Football. Prior to taking over football, Deal worked with head coach Don Flanagan and women's hoops.
Hired by Greg Remington, Deal started at UNM as the softball and women's soccer contact. He was instrumental in getting live streaming off the ground in Albuquerque with the Mountain West Network and CBS Sports Live Streaming. He also served on the broadcast team for Lobo Softball with radio legend Mike Roberts. Deal worked multiple NCAA tournaments and events while at UNM and served as the NCAA media coordinator for the 2008 NCAA Women's Golf National Championship.
Deal spent three seasons as an official scorer for the AAA-Albuquerque Isotopes of the Pacific Coast League.
Prior to his time at UNM, Deal spent the 2005-06 year at UAB, working as the primary media contact for softball and women's soccer. Under the guidance of Norm Reilly and Jason Falls, Deal assisted with men's basketball and UAB football.
A Stillwater native, Deal began his college athletics career as a student in the Wichita State athletics communications office under Larry Rankin. He worked primarily with softball and men's basketball, assisting with all of Shocker sports.
While in Wichita, Deal spent the 2003 and 2004 seasons assisting with the Kansas City Royals AA affiliate, the Wichita Wranglers as a media relations/sales associate. His seasonal roles included official scoring, press box management, ticket sales assistant and serving as the team's official mascots, the Garbage Gremlin and Wilbur T. Wrangler. During his second season, Deal served as the primary media contact for Royals legend and team manager, Frank White.
Deal graduated from Wichita State in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in sports management and in 2010 with a master's degree in sports administration. Prior to attending WSU, Deal received an associates degree in mass communications from Northern Oklahoma College in 2002.
He and his wife, Christy, have two sons, Parker and Wyatt, and one daughter, Lily.
