Q&A with Cowboy Football redshirt junior cornerback Kollin Lewis
April 23, 2026 | Cowboy Football
Cowboy Football corner back Kollin Lewis
Â
On the transition from UNT to Stillwater:
"It has been easy. Being with Morris in these past three years, they've been pretty easy."
Â
On being able to put trust into Coach Morris and Coach Cassidy:
"Morris recruited me out of high school so committing here was easy. Getting a new defensive coordinator and winning games this past season allowed me the ability to come to Oklahoma State."
Â
On how they are trying to revamp the defense:
"Starting spring ball and build from there, building on all the 15 practices we have, summer to fall camp then the season will be here. Build chemistry, we were close there and we plan on being closer."
Â
On the difference between Coach Cassidy and Coach Wilson:
"None at all, Cassidy is going to be Cassidy, he is going to do his job. He's going to call the plays and we're going to go from there. He is smart, he knows the fronts, schemes and the offense, so whatever he calls we just have to trust our ability to know it's going to work from there. Wilson, he's got great attention to detail and how confident he wants us to be. From the meeting to everything we do he wants us to be really competitive. He gives us the ability and the leadership to go from there.
Â
On what Coach Wilson says about the mental game in football:
"He knows football, he wants to be tough and be dominant. That mentality that we got our man, chest to chest we go man to man the whole game. You got it as a coach; you got to be flat and just be you. So, being in situations with him is pretty good, he'll tell us the truth and keep it cool."
Â
On the corner back's room:
"It's been pretty good, I transferred in January. These past few months we have been building chemistry, doing things outside of football and getting to know each other. We've gotten close in these practices and they've been good practices. I already know the defense, so I try to tell the guys and help the guys out. We need everybody in the room to be a leader, we don't want anybody to sit back and we want everybody to speak up, speak their mind.
