Had a career day in OSU’s one-point win over Texas Tech as he recorded a game-high 14 tackles, sacked Patrick Mahomes for a loss of nine yards and forced a fourth-quarter fumble that was recovered by teammate Vincent Taylor ... Forced a fumble against Colorado in the Alamo Bowl ... Also had a six-tackle outing against Southeastern Louisiana in the opener, a five-tackle day in OSU’s win at TCU and three tackles against Pitt, West Virginia and OU ... Saw significant action at the “star” linebacker position in OSU’s Bedlam win over No. 18 Oklahoma in Norman, recording a season-high 10 tackles (seven solo) in that contest.
High School: Coached by Tony Heath … Finished his senior year with 86 tackles, including 61 unassisted, 11 tackles for loss and two sacks … Also snagged two interceptions, two fumbles recovered and a forced fumble … Had a forced fumble and 88-yard return for a score in the Texas 5A state championship game … As a senior, Houston Chronicle defensive player of the year, Associated Press Sports Editors honorable mention Class 5A all-state team, first team all-Greater Houston, defensive player of the year in district 22-5A, first team all-district, and Texas High School Football all-elite team Class 5A Region III … First team selection on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 2013 All-Texas high school team … Also participated in track and basketball … Held scholarship offers from Baylor, Boise State and Iowa State, among others.
