Carter Anderson is entering her third season as one of Oklahoma State’s Jumping Seat assistant coaches.
Last season, under Anderson, Riley Hogan earned All-American status in fences. Hogan and Grace McReynolds collected All-Big 12 accolades. Anderson also coached two Big 12 Riders of the Month and an NCEA Rider of the Month. Last season, Anderson's fences team collected 44 wins, while the flat team earned 37 wins. the Cowgirls reached the national semifinals where her teams earned seven total wins.
In her first season at OSU, Anderson coached three Cowgirls to All-American status as OSU won its third consecutive Big 12 title. Sydney North, under the tutelage of Anderson, earned Big 12 Fences Rider of the Month in February after earning three points in three meets. Anderson's Jumping Seat Unit collected 13 total MOPs and over 80 victories.
Anderson joined the Cowgirls after one season as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Equestrian Assistant Coach of the Year.
In her one season on the UT-Martin staff, Anderson oversaw a group of jumping seat riders that was among the ECAC conference's best. The jumping unit collected 44 victories and 10 MOPs in fences to go along with 38 wins and eight MOPs in flat.
UT-Martin also produced three All-ECAC honorees from Anderson's group, with Kelby Kane and Haley Kane being selected for fences and Julia Gilman for flat. In addition, Kane was named the NCEA and ECAC Fences Rider of the Year, becaming the first UT-Martin rider to ever claim the awards.
With the help of Anderson's supervision, the Skyhawks were ranked in the top 10 of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association polls nine different weeks. The team finished the year 8-8 with a 7-2 record against ECAC opponents and made their second straight appearance in the conference's championship meet.
Before joining the UT-Martin staff, Anderson had an impressive collegiate career at the University of Georgia, including being a member of the 2021 NCEA National Champion Bulldog squad.
Anderson was also a member of two NCEA reserve championship teams at Georgia, in 2018 and 2019, and contributed to a Southeastern Conference title in 2018, as well.
In 2019, Anderson was elected by her peers and coaches at Georgia as a team captain and remained in that role until her final season in 2021.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Anderson graduated cum laude from Georgia in 2021 with a degree in journalism. She was named to the NCEA Academic Honor Roll and the SEC Honor Roll every year while she was at Georgia (2017-2021).
