Steve Lutz on Ousmane:
"Abou is a strong, physical player who moves incredibly well for his size. I love his versatility and the way he pursues rebounds. He's another veteran guy who has played on championship level teams and will be a great addition to the Cowboy Family."
At Xavier (2023-24):
Started 29 games and was leading rebounder (6.4) on a Xavier team that earned a bid to the NIT… Also averaged 6.7 points and finished ninth on the Big East blocks list (1.24)… Ranked 39th nationally in offensive rebounding percentage, per KenPom, grabbing 14.1% of opponent misses… Grabbed 10+ rebounds on seven occasions and posted four double-doubles… Had a season-high eight offensive boards as part of an 11-rebound effort against eventual national champion UConn (Jan. 10, 2024)… Recorded his 1,000th career point during a 10-point, 10-rebound effort against Georgia (10 pts, 10 reb) in the first round of the NIT (Mar. 19, 2024)… Other double-doubles came against Cincinnati on Dec. 9 (10 pts, 11 reb), Seton Hall on Dec. 23 (16 pts, 10 reb, 5 blocks, 3 steals), and Providence on Feb. 21 (13 pts, 13 reb).
At North Texas (2020-23):
Helped North Texas achieve best three-year stretch in program history with a 74-24 mark… Earned third team All-Conference USA honors in his final go-around for a team that won 31 games and the 2023 National Invitation Tournament title… Averaged 11.1 points and 6.0 rebounds and totaled 45 blocks (seventh on UNT’s single season list)… Averaged 10.2 points and 6.0 rebounds as a sophomore on a Mean Green squad that won the 2022 CUSA regular season title and reached the second round of the NIT… As a freshman helped UNT to its first CUSA tournament title and logged a season-high 16 minutes in the program’s first ever NCAA tournament victory (over Steve Lutz’s Purdue Boilermakers)… Best game was a 37-point effort at UTSA on Dec. 22, 2022 in which he made 15-of-19 shots and grabbed 11 rebounds. It was the most points by a CUSA player without a three-point in more than a decade…
