May 02, 2026 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's outdoor track & field opened weekend action at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Friday and continued through with the Sooner Invitational on Saturday, headlined by a new program record in the men's 4x400 Meter Relay.
On Saturday, the men's 4x400 Meter Relay squad took down the program record with an impressive time of 3:05.03, demolishing the competition at the Sooner Invitational and taking the title overall. The Cowboy quartet of Riley McGowan, Will Bynum, Mason Page and Charlie Thorne beat out the previous record by two-tenths of a second, set at the 2024 NCAA West Prelims (Jo. Smith, B. Wynne, C. Almeida, D. McArthur).
On the track for the Cowgirls, Katie Chapman started the day off strong with a victory in the women's 100 Meter Hurdles and a time of 13.58, which ranks as the second-fastest in program history. Elise Eikeland followed suit with her second-place performance in the women's 400 Meter Hurdles, clocking a time of 58.85.
Arguably, the best performance of the day from the Cowgirls came in the women's 5,000 Meters, with Billah Jepkirui clocking an electric time of 15:42.64, which ranks sixth in program history as she defeated the rest of the field by nearly a minute.
Back on the track, Brycen Ward blazed to a new personal best in the men's 800 Meters, clocking a time of 1:51.40 in a tightly contested matchup and earning second place. It marks the third meet in a row that Ward has improved his best time, following both the John McDonnell Invite and the Arkansas Spring Invitational.
Concluding the day, Kevin Kemboi leaped to a second-place finish in the men's Long Jump, logging a mark of 7.68 meters on his second attempt of the series. The distance marks a new personal best for the freshman and is good for the fourth best in program history.
At the Payton Jordan Invitational on Friday in Palo Alto, Cal., Laban Kipkemboi kicked the day off for the Cowboys with a strong fourth-place performance in the men's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase. His time of 8:39.10 breaks his previous record by over 11 seconds and is good for the fifth-fastest time in program history.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls return to action next Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark., as they wrap up regular season play at the Arkansas Twilight.
