Hafez Mahadi breaks program record in 800 Meters as Cowboy and Cowgirl Track & Field wrap up regular season
May 09, 2026 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's outdoor track & field wrapped up regular season play at the Arkansas Twilight on Friday, highlighted by a new school record in the 800 Meters.
Hafez Mahadi took the first victory of the day for the Cowboys with his performance in the men's 800 Meters, blazing to a new program record in the process with a time of 1:45.69. The time set a new Arkansas Twilight meet record and overtakes Mehdi Yanouri's mark of 1:45.97, set at the 2024 Flanders Cup in Belgium.
Later in the day in the men's 1,500 Meters, former Cowboy Fouad Messaoudi, who was a member of OSU's 2023 and 2025 national title-winning cross country teams, won his first race as a professional for HOKA, breaking his own meet and facility record with his mark of 3:32.25. Former teammate Ryan Schoppe was third in the race with a new personal best of 3:34.72.
Behind the pair of former Cowboys were a slew of current Cowboys. True freshman Alex Riley and sophomore Oliver Patton clocked the fifth and seventh-fastest marks in program history with their times of 3:37.88 and 3:38.11, respectively. Keegan Thomas, Nate Stadtlander, David Mora, Matt Thomas and Ethan Stovall also all set new personal bests as every single current and former Cowboy in the field did so.
Elsewhere on the track for the Cowboys, Carter Wilkerson clocked the fifth-fastest wind-legal 100 Meter time in program history with his mark of 10.33.
On the women's side, Lauren Smith picked up the meet victory in the women's Pole Vault with a new personal-best clearance of 4.10 meters. Her mark is good for the second best in program history, behind only Ariadni Adamopoulou's record-setting mark of 4.25 meters set in 2020.
Additionally, Cowgirl senior Annie Molenhouse dropped the third-best time in program history in the 100 Meter Hurdles with her mark of 13.67.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls return to action next Thursday in Tucson, Ariz., for the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
