Cowboy RTC Nets Two Golds at Pan Am Championships
May 11, 2026 | Cowboy Wrestling
Coralville, Iowa – A pair of Cowboy RTC wrestlers defended their gold medal at the Pan Am Championships over the weekend, including former Oklahoma State NCAA champion Wyatt Hendrickson and Zahid Valencia.
Hendrickson, who won a Hodge Trophy in addition to his NCAA title at OSU two seasons ago, cruised through the 125-kilogram field. In the quarterfinals, Hendrickson took just 30 seconds to pin Mexico's Brandon Anguiano Flores to advance to a semifinal matchup with Brazil's Gabriel De Sousa Silva. The former Cowboy earned a 10-0 victory (Tech 0:53) over Silva to advance to the finals.
In a wild gold medal match, he pinned Canada's Jorawar Dhinsa in just under two minutes to win the title. Hendrickson adds to his impressive resume, already taking home a U.S. Open title earlier this spring.
Valencia defended his gold by defeating Christopher Foca Mejia of the Dominican Republic, 10-0 (Tech 3:28). Valencia also defeated Nestor Barrios and Pedro Goncalves Da Silva en route to his championship appearance.
Both Cowboy RTC veterans now prepare for Final X 2026 on June 19 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
