Cowgirls tied for third after opening round of Big 12 Championship

DALLAS – Oklahoma State women's golf began competition at the Big 12 Championship on Thursday, ending the day with a share of third place.
The Cowgirls combined for a 5-over 293. OSU trails first-place Houston by 8 shots heading into Friday's second round.
Ellie Bushnell led the Cowgirl charge, going 2-under with a 70. In her 100th career round, Bushnell was one of just eight golfers to card an under-par round. The junior is tied for second place individually, just one shot off the lead.
Fellow junior Marta Silchenko added a steady 73 (+1) to end the day in a tie for 17th.
True freshman Yu-Chu Chen carded a 2-over 74 in her Big 12 Championship debut and is currently tied for 23rd place. Chen's 14 pars tied for second-most on the day.
Summer Lee turned in a 4-over 76. Grace Kilcrease rounded out the OSU lineup with an 82 (+10).
The Cowgirls return to action Friday at 9:10 a.m. for the second of three rounds at the Dallas Athletic Club. OSU will be paired with fifth-place Arizona State (No. 2 seed) and sixth-place Baylor (No. 5 seed).
