Cowboy Basketball adds defensive ace Kashie Natt
April 21, 2026 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State has signed guard Kashie Natt, head coach Steve Lutz announced today.
The 6-foot-3 guard from Rayville, Louisiana was the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year last season at Sam Houston and the 2025 NAIA National Player of the Year during his time at LSU-Alexandria.
"Kashie is an elite competitor who impacts the game on the defensive end in a way that's hard to teach," Lutz said. "He has great instincts, tremendous athleticism and a motor that doesn't stop. His ability to guard multiple positions, rebound at a high level and create extra possessions fits exactly with how we want to play. He's proven himself at every level and we're excited to welcome him to the Cowboy Basketball family."
Natt started all 34 games for the Bearkats last season, averaging 10.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while leading Conference USA in steals (2.03 per game), defensive rebounds and double-doubles (9). He earned third-team all-conference honors and helped Sam Houston to 22 wins, a runner-up finish in the league standings and a berth in the NIT.
One of the most productive rebounding guards in the country, Natt recorded 14 double-digit rebounding games, including a pair of 16-rebound performances in March. He also posted nine games with five or more combined steals and blocks ("stocks"), highlighted by a six-steal outing at Western Kentucky.
Natt performed well against high-major competition, tallying a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double at No. 10 Texas Tech and later finishing with nine points, six rebounds and a block during a December visit to Oklahoma State's Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Prior to Sam Houston, Natt starred at LSU-Alexandria, where he was the 2025 NAIA National Player of the Year and a two-time All-American. He averaged 19.9 points and 10.1 rebounds during his final season, leading the Generals to a 31-3 record and a trip to the national quarterfinals. He finished his career as the program's all-time leader in both scoring (1,592) and rebounding (780).
Natt began his collegiate career at the junior college level, earning first team all-conference honors as a freshman at Southern University-Shreveport.
A 2021 graduate of Rayville High School, Natt led his team to four consecutive state championship game appearances, winning titles in 2018 and 2019. He was a two-time first-team all-state selection in Class 2A and also earned accolades as a wide receiver on the football field.
Natt is considered a top-100 prospect on ESPN's 2026 NBA Draft board and plans to go through the draft evaluation process this spring while maintaining his collegiate eligibility.
