Cowgirls walk it off against No. 16 Arizona
April 17, 2026 | Cowgirl Softball
Between the extra innings and a lightning delay that lasted longer than one hour, the game lasted four hours and 40 minutes.
OSU (29-11 overall; 10-6 Big 12) got out to a 4-0 lead after three innings, but Arizona (30-12 overall; 11-5 Big 12) worked its way into the game and tied it with a dramatic two-run home run when it was down to its final out in the seventh inning.
The Wildcats took the lead in the eighth inning after a solo home run from Tayler Biehl, but Claire Timm responded with a solo shot of her own – her second homer of the game – in the bottom half of the inning to keep the Cowgirls alive. Following a scoreless ninth for both teams, Timm led off the 10th with a walk, Davis singled and Lexi McDonald walked to load the bases with one out. Timm was gunned down at the plate on a grounder to short off the bat of Amanda Hasler, but with two outs, Warsop delivered the game-winner.
The Cowgirls banged out a season-high 19 hits in the contest, the second-highest total against a Power Four opponent in school history and the most since OSU had a school-record 20 against Nebraska in 1997. Including Friday's performance, the Cowgirls have recorded at least 10 hits in each of their last four games.
In a game that saw five different Cowgirls record multi-hit games, offensive standouts included Jayelle Austin (4-for-5 with a double), Davis (4-for-6 with two RBI), Timm (3-for-5 with two home runs) and Warsop (3-for-6 with the game-winning RBI).
Ruby Meylan (19-6) threw 160 pitches in her 13th complete game of the season. It was her second complete game victory over a ranked opponent in the last three days following a 133-pitch win over No. 1 Oklahoma on Wednesday. It was also her fourth consecutive complete game. Rylie Holder took the loss for Arizona to fall to 9-4 on the year.
OSU opened the scoring in the first inning with a leadoff home run by Timm. Later in the inning, McDonald scored on a passed ball, setting up a Warsop RBI single that drove in Hasler, who had advanced to third on the passed ball.
Davis added another run in the second inning with an RBI single down the right field line to make it 4-0. In the following inning, Hasler notched her 11th home run of the year to give the Cowgirls a 5-0 lead after three innings.
The Wildcats responded by scoring four unanswered runs over the next three innings.
Davis provided additional insurance in the sixth inning with her second RBI single of the game, giving the Cowgirls a two-run lead heading into the seventh.
Game two of the series is set for 2 p.m. CT tomorrow and will be televised on ESPN2.
