Cowgirls drop game two to No. 16 Arizona

STILLWATER – The No. 21/21 Oklahoma State softball team lost to No. 16/16 Arizona, 9-1, in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
The loss dropped the Cowgirls to 29-12 overall and 10-7 in Big 12 play, while the Wildcats improved to 31-12 and 12-5 in conference action.
Arizona took control early, scoring all nine of its runs across the first three innings behind an aggressive offensive approach that produced 12 hits.
Oklahoma State struggled to generate offense for much of the game, managing just one run on limited opportunities. The Cowgirls threatened in the second inning, putting runners on base, but were unable to capitalize. Their lone run came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Audrey Schneidmiller delivered a single up the middle to drive in Rosie Davis.
RyLee Crandall (6-5) started in the circle for Oklahoma State and pitched two innings before being relieved by Preslee Downing, who finished the contest. Arizona's Jalen Adams (18-6) earned the win after pitching a complete game, holding the Cowgirls to one run.
The contest was played in front of a program-record crowd of 2,093 fans, who packed into Cowgirl Stadium for the nationally televised contest. It marked OSU's second home game of the season in front of at least 2,000 fans, passing the previous program record of 2,043 against Nebraska on February 28.
With the series tied, the teams are scheduled to meet in the rubber match at 11 a.m. CT Sunday at Cowgirl Stadium.
