Cowgirls Pick Up Five-Star Point Guard
April 13, 2026 | Cowgirl Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's basketball has added a point guard with Big 12 experience to its backcourt with the addition of LA Sneed it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jacie Hoyt.
A 5-6 guard, Sneed joins the Cowgirl program after spending her freshman season at Utah.
"LA is one of the best true point guards in the country. Her experience as a true freshman in the Big 12 is a rarity and we cannot wait to build on that moving forward. She is exceptional at creating paint touches to score or pass, which is perfect fit for us offensively," Hoyt said.
"Defensively, her ball pressure and ability to create chaos is going to be a fun thing for our fans to watch and us to coach. She is a coach's kid with a blue-collar work ethic that has prepared her to handle things a lot of players shy away from."
This past season, Sneed played in 32 games for the Utes, making 16 starts. She averaged 6.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while dishing out a team-best 107 assists on the year. She was named to the five-player All-Big 12 Freshman Team.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Sneed was tabbed as a five-star recruit and checked in at No. 28 in the ESPN SportsCenter NEXT 100. A product of Karen Wagner High School, she was named District MVP on three occasions while helping her squad to three district titles and an appearance in the state finals.
Sneed broke the school's single-game scoring record with a 52-point outburst and recorded more than 1,000 points and 500 assists during her prep career.
As a senior, she averaged 23.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 5.1 steals per contest. Her junior campaign saw Sneed lead the team with her 22.7 points per outing. She also averaged 6.9 boards, 6.1 assists and 4.4 steals per contest.
