Cowgirl Tennis Falls to Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. – Oklahoma State's No. 28 ranked women's tennis team lost to Colorado, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Meadows Club.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fall to 6-5 and 3-1 in Big 12 play while dropping its first road match of the season. The Cowgirls return home next weekend as they take on Kansas State on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The match began with doubles, as Oklahoma State won the point for the ninth time this season. The No. 20 ranked pair of Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp earned their fifth-straight win, defeating Pia Rebec and Aya El Sayed, 6-4.
Olivia Lincer and Luca Udvardy continued their own streak, defeating Lera Alexin and Rixt Van Der Werff, 7-6 (7-5), to put the doubles point on the board for the Cowgirls. Oklahoma State forfeited court three due to player availability.
In singles play, Colorado earned a point on court six due to OSU player availability. With the match tied at one, the Buffaloes struck first as Van Der Werff defeated Komar, 6-2, 6-4. OSU tied the match at two when Udvardy bested Alexin, 6-1, 6-1. Udvardy is now 6-1 in singles this season.
Colorado regained the league as Rebec defeated No. 22 Nijkamp, 6-2, 6-4. The final point for Colorado came on court one as El Sayed defeated No. 53 Lincer, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, to win the match for the Buffaloes.
Court five went unfinished, as Melisa Ercan was even with Heidi Crncan, 5-7, 6-3, 0-0.
