DALLAS – Oklahoma State's sixth-ranked equestrian team fell to No. 4 SMU, 13-4, Friday afternoon in Dallas. With the loss, Oklahoma State closes the regular season at 6-3, while the Mustangs improved to 5-5. The Cowgirls are now 1-7 all-time in Dallas.
The Cowgirls earned one MOP honor on the day, as Bella D'Onofrio continued the momentum from her NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Month honor in February with a season-high score of 78.75.
The day began with Horsemanship and Fences, but a weather delay paused action midway through the opening events.
The Mustangs swept Fences to jump out to an early five-point lead. It marked the first time this season an Oklahoma State unit had been swept in competition. Lauren Gee posted the Cowgirls' highest score in the event with an 84 but was edged by SMU's Caroline Signorino, whose 87 earned MOP honors.
Horsemanship didn't fare much better for the Cowgirls in the points column, as D'Onofrio's standout ride accounted for Oklahoma State's lone point in the event. However, the overall scores were much tighter, with SMU narrowly edging OSU, 383.25-379.25. Alana Stanton turned in a season-best 77.25 despite dropping her matchup. Notably, June Roberson suffered her first loss of the season and her first defeat since March 8, 2025.
The Cowgirls trailed 9-1 heading into Reining and Flat.
Oklahoma State's Reining unit won the event, 2-1, with two ties awarded. Ava Bush capped off a strong regular season with her seventh win, improving the junior to 7-2 on the year. Tristan Bagby added the Cowgirls' other point with a 72-70.75 victory. Emma Filiatreau and Ayden Welman each tied their matchups, with Filiatreau posting a 73.25 and Welman a 70.25.
SMU closed out the day with a 3-1 advantage in Flat. Sophia Tabasso continued her strong freshman campaign, earning her sixth win of the season with a score of 86. Lourdes Low tied for the highest score in the event with an 87 but finished in a draw with her opponent, Schuyler Dayner.
Oklahoma State now shifts its focus to postseason competition, where the Cowgirls will host the Big 12 Championship on March 27-28.
