CLEVELAND – The Oklahoma State wrestling team secured a second-place finish with one session remaining at the NCAA Wrestling Championships Saturday, wrapping up the final day's early session with 119 points to mark its highest point total through five sessions since 2005.
The Cowboys' point total is already better than six of the national champion totals since 2001 when the NCAA moved to the placement point system it uses now.
Saturday's early session saw four Cowboys finish their All-America runs, as Konner Doucet finished fourth at heavyweight, Troy Spratley took fifth at 125 pounds, Casey Swiderski finished eighth at 149 pounds and Zack Ryder claimed eighth at 184 pounds.
Spratley and Doucet started the day in the consolation semifinals, as Doucet moved past Nebraska's No. 4 AJ Ferrari via medical forfeit and Spratley fell in tiebreakers to No. 12 Vincent Robinson of NC State, 3-2.
In the fifth-place match, Spratley pinned No. 14 Jacob Moran of Indiana in 4:11 to cap his tournament run, and Doucet fell in the third-place match to Michigan's No. 3 Taye Ghadiali, 5-1.
Doucet, who is the only senior in OSU's starting lineup, wraps up his career with a 72-30 record, including a 22-5 record in 2025-26. He tallied more bonus point wins this season than his previous four years combined and earned his first career All-America honors this weekend, giving OSU 500 in program history.
Swiderski and Ryder were slotted in seventh-place matches, as Swiderski fell to Penn's No. 3 Cross Wasilewski, 5-2, and Ryder exited with a medical forfeit to complete an eighth-place finish for both Cowboys.
Four more OSU wrestlers, who are all freshmen, compete in Saturday's finals. It marks the first time the Cowboys have tallied four finalists since 2014, and OSU and Penn State are the only teams with more than two finalists.
"We've got four guys in the finals," coach David Taylor said. "Four opportunities to go out, wrestle hard, and win a national championship. So, I expect these guys to go out strong and wrestle hard. They've just got to go out and wrestle and can't think about anything else until it's over."
The 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships concludes Saturday night at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, with the sixth and final session scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
