Cowboys Third After Day One At Pauma Valley

PAUMA VALLEY, Calif. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play at the Pauma Valley Invitational on Monday with a 279 total to stand alone in third place at Pauma Valley Country Club.
The Cowboys' 5-under tally was three strokes off the pace of Ole Miss for second place. Tennessee carded a 273 total to lead by three at the par-71, 7,311-yard layout.
Coming off his fourth career victory in OSU's last outing at the Cabo Collegiate, Preston Stout is once again in the mix, firing an opening 65 to share first place with LSU's Jay Mendell.
The Cowboy junior carded his first birdie of the day at the second. He would reel off four in a row starting at the ninth hole to move to 5-under for the day. After carding his lone bogey of the day at the 12th, Stout added two more birdies at the 13th and 14th before closing his day with four pars in a row.
Junior Ethan Fang posted a 69 to share 12th place, while sophomore Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson posted a 71 to finish the day tied for 27th place.
Competing individually, redshirt freshman Collin Bond signed for a 73 and is tied for 49th place.
Junior Eric Lee's 74 tied him for 64th place, while classmate Gaven Lane also posted a 74 during his opening round.
The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 9:05 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Tennessee, Ole Miss and Georgia Tech.
